Shamed former CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION star GARY DOURDAN has been thrown a career lifeline by BATMAN. The actor, who lost his role on the hit drama following an arrest for cocaine and ecstasy possession in April (08), has landed a voiceover part in the new animated Batman film Batman: Gotham Knight. Dourdan, who played Warrick Brown on the original CSI, has voiced tough guy Gotham City detective Crispus Allen for the upcoming straight-to-DVD film, which hits stores in July (08).
The animated movie, released to coincide with the new big screen Batman blockbuster The Dark Knight, also features the voices of Kevin Conroy, David McCallum and E.R. regular Parminder Nagra. Dourdan tells BlackFilm.com, "I always wanted to do more animation voiceover stuff, so the opportunity came along and I jumped on it. Plus, it's a Batman project so how could I say no."
Meanwhile DOURDAN has fired back at reports he's set for televised rehab following his recent drug possession conviction. Reports suggested the actor, who lost his role on the hit show after he was caught in possession of cocaine and ecstasy in California in April (08), was set to join the cast of reality show Celebrity Rehab. But Dourdan confirmed the news is bogus. He says, "For the record, contrary to what's written on the web, I will not be (doing) any celebrity rehab. That's completely false."
The actor avoided jail following his drug possession arrest after pleading guilty to felony charges at the end of last month (May08). In a statement released shortly after his arrest, the actor said, "Obviously, I am embarrassed to find myself in this situation and I am profoundly grateful to everyone for their support."
