Funny Memories from the MMVA's back in June 2008. Hear me ask Akon and Kardinal Offishall questions including my marriage proposal to Akon! They were both performers. You can hear Rudy Blair too asks his questions. He sat in front of me in the pressroom. Vote for him now at idol.ctv.ca

Here's a little performance from the Tony Awards last Sunday. As you know, the whole of Canada was watching the MuchMusic Awards and I was covering it.
My press pass has now retired and gone to the press pass ziplock hall of fame where the DJ Stylus, Grammys, Billboards, Oscars and Golden Globe and Canadian Idol auditions all die out. My first MMVA'S was a success and I had an altogether great time. All the CTV offices were party areas this weekend. The pre-party was even hotter than the afterparties.10 MMVA bottled waters, 6 ginger ales, 4 Pepsi Maxs' and lots of pineapple juice plus the shrimp, chicken rolls, cold seasoned noodles and some things I don't even recognize and just ate period! As you can see, the sign says the bar now leads to my room. The tech guy was taking the signs down and said I could have them all if I wanted. I could only take 4 posters for the boy's room as they were not really posters. They were heavy cardboardy things!
My special thanks goes to everyone at MUCHMTV and especially the Publicist and Media relations head who gave me the media credentials that allowed Keminications Media to attend this event. Thank you Jennifer Correlli! See you next year!
Captain Rihanna even tried to snatch my pearls as she said she loved them. We could have exchanged them for the hat! LOL!
I partied with Akon at the MMVA afterparty at Circa
Akon even signed KJ's lookalike picture. The Konvster was shocked as he was looking into his childhood mirror! KJ wants to play "Little Akon" in a movie! Akon was so shocked at the resemblance too.
I finally met my boy FLO! He was the coolest person I have seen in a long time in this business. I have been asleep for the past 48 hours now and still lost my voice from the MMVA's. I willl be bringing you an exclusive video coverage of the press room question and answer session in a few days or hours depending on when the Tylenol runs out!
Thanks to Tyrone Warner of CTV news who reports that Hedley may have dominated the MuchMusic Video Awards with four big wins, but it was a nostalgiac performance by the New Kids on the Block that stole the show Sunday night. For hardcore fans, it was well worth getting soaked by the early evening rain as NKOTB ran through a medley of their smash hits "Step by Step," "Hangin' Tough," "Please Don't Go Girl," and "You've Got It (The Right Stuff)" before launching into their new single, "Summertime."
But on the awards front, Canadian rockers Hedley were the biggest winners of the night, picking up four of their six nominations, including the night's biggest award, Best Video. "Oh my gosh... we want to thank everybody who works on this so hard," gushed the band's singer Jacob Hoggard, before snapping a picture of himself and his bandmates. Earlier, barefoot and sporting a white headband, Hoggard and his tattooed crew tore through the bouncy "Never Too Late," switching between multiple microphones set up around the stage.
Hoggard placed third on "Canadian Idol" four seasons ago, and the band released its first album in 2005. Hedley also won awards for Best Cinematography, Best Director and Best Rock Video. The MuchMusic Video Awards are unlike any other awards show on television. Instead of podiums and stuffy speeches, the MuchMusic headquarters is transformed into a mulit-stage party that attracts thousands to Queen Street West in downtown Toronto.
The show kicked off this year's show with this summer's defacto jam, "Flo," performed by Flo Rida in a guitar-heavy remix, followed immediately by a high-octane performance from the ever-popular Simple Plan. Hailing from Montreal, Simple Plan won the People's Choice Award for Favourite Canadian Group -- the fifth time they had won the award. "It's simple; we owe it to our fans. They're so amazing and loyal," said singer Pierre Bouvier in the band's acceptance speech.
During a break in the rain, illScarllett took their loud guitars to new heights as they wailed "Nothing Special" on the roof of MuchMusic quarters -- even though they went home empty handed. Hometown hero Kardinal Offishall ensured Canadian hip-hop was well represented at the awards show when he performed his new single "Dangerous" with megastar Akon by his side. Other performers included Sean Kingston, dance crew Jabbawockeez, Girlicious and Rihanna, who took home the award for Best International Video.
Earlier in the night, celebs braved the rain as they arrived in flashy rides to the MMVA red carpet on Toronto's Queen Street West. While Flo Rida preferred a yellow Lamborghini, Offishall rolled up in a TTC bus crammed with girls ready to party.
It wasn't only rock stars at the MMVAs -- celebrities such as Chace Crawford ("Gossip Girl"), Rainn Wilson ("The Office"), blogger Perez Hilton, Kristin Cavallari ("Laguna Beach"), Whitney Port ("The Hills") also appeared at the awards show. Mike Myers even made a special cameo appearance during a skit with comedian Trevor Boris.
"Jacob, you'll get these babies back if you behave well." Headly snagged 4 total out of 6 nominations.
The list of winners at Sunday night's annual MuchMusic Video Awards:
While some winners like Headley let me play with their trophies, Here are all the rest of the winners. Did you know that Jacob Hoggard, the lead singer of Headley had no shoes on whatsover thruout the show!

Urbanology Magazine Publicist Craigg Slowly, me and Kevin Ash of Universal Music
With one of my sons, Eni who hooked himself up with 3 chics! Mom and son in da club!
With Canadian R&B Superstar Ray Robinson
With Flow 93.5FM's drivetime DJ Devo Brown
It was one fantastic evening and being my first one in Canada, it will be a yearly MUST! The evening began with Disc Jockeys from radio and clubs mingling together around the bar and red carpet with media interviews plus photo flashes everywhere.
I met Rudy Blair of 680 News and we did an interview with a small media outlet while we were there. We even spoke of my Media Idol campaign to get Rudy the winning vote. I met Wayne Williams, Program Director of Flow 93.5FM.
Above are Sean Dheju and his DJ brother from Hip-Hop Canada. Gail Philip of UMAC was also there and even Kevin Ash of Universal who's my good guy stay good unlike Rihanna good girl gone bad!LOL! Craigg Slowly of Urbanology magazine, the top hip-hop publication in Canada was also in the house amongst others.
The award show started promptly at 8pm with DJ Starting from Scratch kicking everything up on his sophisticated MAC laptop. A little power glitch ensued around 8:26pm and power was quickly restored in 5 minutes.
When it came time to winning the Toyota Yaris car, the winners of the fan choice awards came on stage and were all WOMEN! They were all given keys to the car and the first lady that went in there started the CAR! Save the best for FIRST!
With Canadian R&B Queen Kim Davis
PPlus of Flow 93.5FM show The Real Frequency also snagged an award for the Best Underground DJ while Montreal's Little Thunder won the Reggae DJ of the Year!
DJ Baby Yu who is moving to Atlanta and I hear he's already working with the BEST over there. My pal Alex Gidewon who owns AG Entertainment and top club Velvet room plus I hear he's also doing gigs at the Compound club too in the ATL. Now with two DJ awards, it all all looks GOOD! Congrats to Baby Yu!
There were several highlights of the evening. DJ's won their respective trophies as well as a performance by the Kid Famous who rapped his way through his hit song "Canadian Boy."R&B Queen Kim Davis also performed on stage as well as other artists.
With Female DJ nominee DJ Queen of Spades
One category I was watching closely was the Female DJ of the Year which was won by Toronto's Mel Boogie. Wonder if she's related to Scott? LOL! One of her counterparts DJ Queen of Spades was such a darling as I met her and talked to her about the MC stuff.
One thing most of you don't know about me is that I am actually the 2007 Best female radio DJ of the year at Radio Nigeria's Premier FM 93.5FM before I came to Canada last June. Aside from being the Ryan Seacrest of women, being a Pharmacist, Publicist and Journalist all with three college degrees, I worked at Radio Nigeria as a News Anchor by day and DJ on "Ladies Night Jams" on Premier FM by night! In fact if Wayne Williams were to call me that Jeni or anyone in there was on vacation. I could fill in promptly. I will get some of my audio samples on the blog soon. Ha! Ha!
Jully Black got an award for Canadian R&B Single of the Year for "DJ Play my song" and Alicia Keys won the International R&B Single of the Year while Kanye West won the same for the International hip-hop single of the Year.
Carl Allen was inducted into the Hall of Fame and DJ Starting from Scratch had the honor of inducting him as he had a lot of influence on Scratch. It was a sweet tribute!
The afterparty was at 6 degrees nightclub and we were transferred over there in a limo bus like the one L'il Wayne had in the video "Lollipop" except that this one was bigger. I did my rendition of the girls in the lollipop video in there. We were having a BLAST! This Toronto is all good! It's a year this week that I moved to Canada.
Later on I met my adult sons at the afterparties and they were sitting with three chics chilling instead of working the cameras. The food was supplied by Nandos and we had an array of drinks and energy pops. We danced and partied the night away. I want to specially thank Alda Lo, Jocelyn Branford, Mike Zafiris and the ENTIRE STAFF of the Stylus group for making Keminications Media and HipHossip part of this event. My media pass goes to my ever growing collection of neck media passes hall of fame in my suitcase closet and I would be there next year by GOD'S grace!

Stage and screen star Whoopi Goldberg will host Broadway's 62nd annual Tony Awards next month after the show went two years without a single master of ceremonies, organizers said on Thursday The June 15 show, to be broadcast live on CBS from Radio City Music Hall in New York, will mark Goldberg's first turn as emcee of American theater's highest honors. She has served as solo host of the Oscars four times, most recently in 2002.
The New Yorker and New York magazine are among the titles expected to be big winners at the 2008 National Magazine Awards, to be presented in a ceremony Thursday at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Among the biggies expected to attend: Charlie Rose, Tina Brown and George Lois.
"Hosting the MTV Movie Awards is like a party, but without having to do beer runs in your mom's mini van," the alter ego of Shrek and Austin Powers, 45, says in a statement about his upcoming emcee duties – adding, "We do beer runs in Will Smith's four-story motor home." Read more....
The Juno Awards. Canada's big music night and it's like our Grammys here. Don't hate me because I will be opinionated tonight. Already there is not enough Urban music categories then the stage as compared to where the audience sat look tacky! It was like in a gym for God's sake. There was a black wall like barrier separating the VIP's from the stage and it looked like a piano from the other side. What's this? The host made dumb Asian jokes and was obsessed about Avril lavigne throughout the show.
The single of the year was won by Leslie Feist who sat beside her mom and wrote all her thanks on her arm and was chased off stage by the cut-off music. She eventually won 5 awards. I already see Jay-Z working with her. Remember he said that on the Grammy red carpet? Leslie Feist swept the Junos, Canada's music awards, walking away with five trophies during the weekend.
Feist, who records by her last name, earned Junos for best artist and songwriter Saturday during a nontelevised industry awards show in Calgary. The following night, she grabbed three more trophies for single ("1234") and album and pop album ("The Reminder") during a nationwide telecast on the CTV network. Feist, who garnered four nominations at the most recent Grammys, beat out Celine Dion, Avril Lavigne, Michael Buble and newcomer Pascale Picard for the artist of the year Juno.
Rock band Blue Rodeo earned the group award to add to the top adult alternative album and video trophies it picked up Saturday. The best international album, based on retail record sales in Canada, went to Rihanna for "Girl Gone Bad."
Jully Black won best R&B recording for her hit song "Seven day fool." She performed that song so hard she did not want to even stop. That was the last performance of the night. The dull highlight of the night was all the non televised awards like Best Rap Recording which went to Rapper Belly and the absence of more urban music awards. Enjoy the screen shots cos I couldn't even find any pictures on the wires. It was like nobody even cared in the mainstream media! See the next post to see why I said that!
The recipients of this year's Peabody Awards for broadcasting excellence in news and entertainment, presented by the University of Georgia, cover the range from ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff, to NBC sitcom "30 Rock," to Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report."
First I have to thank Mario Anzuoni of Reuters News for all these fantastic pictures!
Akon crashed a dune buggy into giant containers of Nickelodeon's trademark green slime, Usher blasted a sumo wrestler several yards with slime fired from a cannon and supermodel Heidi Klum , attached to a bungee cord and wearing a specially equipped "butt spike belt," flung herself into a wall covered with slime-filled balloons. "Don't try this at home," boxer Laila Alisaid as Usher turned the cannon on the sumo wrestle. They were sliming each other like no man's business. Harrison Ford had it BAD with the SLIME!
Actor Will Smith greeted the crowd as he walked onstage with his son, Jaden
Jamaican American reggae singer and rapper Sean Kingston (L) greets pop and R&B singer Chris Brown on the red carpet at the Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards.
Even Rapper Nelly was there at the awards. Kids love him!
Meanwhile American Idol Singer Jordin Sparks looked like a fat pregnant girl in that Nick-themed dress at Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards.
Smart girl Rihanna and Brendan Fraser presented the award for Favorite Television Show and as you can see Rihanna bought her umbrella-ella-ella to avoid being slimed!
Chris Brown accepted the award for Favorite Male Singer while Rapper Lil Mama performed at the show.
It was the best of both worlds at Saturday's Kids Choice Awards for Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana), who took home trophies for favorite female singer and TV actress and rocked the show with a spirited performance of her hit song, "GNO — Girls Night Out."
We'll watch it sometimes soon on regular cable. Unfortunately Turbonick.com never worked. The server crashed! Too many Canadian and other country kids were all heading there at the same time. I will ask YTVCanada's Nickelodeon contractor on Monday what the air date plans will be.
Sorry kids, it's bad enough you are about to be in the dark for Earth Hour, now this?
7.45pm EDT: Right now I am being bombarded by e-mails about the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice awards which is live in 15 minutes! Below is all I got back from Nick. There is no reply yet from YTV who aired the 20th one last September. It looks like I will have to cover this for you via satellite so at least you can know the winners. I have Rogers cable too and it's not on YTV, Treehouse, Teletoon nor TVO. My neighbor has a dish and we are going to use this downlink co-ordinates we media outlets use to get a program in via satellite. With your parents permission you can watch it live online atwww.Turbonick.com which is CURRENTLY DOWN. Florida is telling me that they are working on the problem. Nickelodeon studios is in Orlando, Florida. Worst comes to the worst, we'll watchit in the Summer when it's really stale!

Brit is set to make her first public prize-giving appearance since her critically-mauled performance at the 2007 Video Music Awards by taking the stage at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday (29Mar08). The pop star has been working on dance routines at a Los Angeles-area studio for the past two weeks and now awards show insiders claim she'll show off her new moves at Saturday's event, hosted by Jack Black. Kids' Choice Awards bosses are refusing to deny the rumours, stating, "The show is always full of surprises... You never know who'll show up."
Meanwhile Contactmusic reports that U.S TV bosses were so impressed with her CBS appearance this week that she will be handed her own sitcom! You go girl!
The Britney video did not win. It was a finalist though but voters chose another as winner. I don't see what's funny about the laughing baby. I preferred the evil eyed baby instead and Chocolate Rain baritone young man won! More coming at my hip-hop site as we have launched another video from his collection! They get a trophy, bragging rights and a YouTube event later this year. For a full list of winners, click here.
